Minutes for Executive Meeting
The national executive meeting began at 7.28 p.m ET with opening prayer by Tata Emmanuel Ikoe, followed by opening remarks from the National President Iya Dr. Clementine Nanje. She began by saying that she was supposed to meet with Tata Emmanuel Nanje of Georgia Chapter to discuss the zoom meeting for the virtual Convention. She also suggested we can have the webinar and the virtual Convention on the same weekend. She continued by saying that we need to conclude our mask project and the Cholera project so that we show people what we have done before we can start advertising our virtual Convention for people to donate. The Vice President Tata Mosongo Nanje asked if we have received any report from Dr. Zachius Ebongo who helped to coordinate the OCA-USA relief fund for the Cholera outbreak? The National Treasurer Iya Naomi mentioned that a report was sent and that it will be forwarded to the executive forum. The National President mentioned that we also need videos for our projects to show people what we are doing. The masks committee also reported that they have four manufacturers for the mask project and they have established a contract with all four manufacturers which was signed and sent to them. The committee spokesperson Iya Naomi Ebile said, the masks were produced at $185/piece and about 80% of the funds have been disbursed. She continued by saying that the banner for OCA-USA will be used for the distribution of the masks as well as T-shirts which will be used by the manufacturers as advertisement tool. She said they had some issues with the transaction of funds with the Dora fashion designer.
Tata Mosongo Nanje who is also a member of the mask project committee mentioned that he spoke with some principals around the Kumba-Kake area to help with the distribution of the masks around the Kumba municipality, since the Principals of GBHS and CCAS Kumba were also Oroko people.
On his part Tata Victor Nanje mentioned that he has already arranged ways on how to distribute the masks and he will update the executive on the forum on how the process is faring. He said they will use some Oroko musicians to help with the process of distribution and sensitization of the mask project. The National Treasurer also mentioned that we can come up with a hard copy of the mask project for people to buy for about $10 and upload the soft copy on our website. It was also suggested that we can contact all clans around the Kumba municipality to help with the distribution of the masks.
Tata Victor Nanje mentioned that the SDO for Ndian was advising that the mask project should pass through him for distribution.
The National President continued by saying that when we are done with the mask project we will begin our ads for the virtual Convention. She said she will have multiple speakers for the webinar on Sunday. It was also agreed that we should make a Njambae magazine for those who will not attend the virtual convention to follow up.
On financial issues, it was agreed that a check of $4200 will be disbursed to the Cultural Secretary Iya Gwendolyn Forseh for the uniform project.
Also, Boston chapter was to pay the national a sum of $400 for the uniform, and Houston chapter $360.00 of which Tata Paddy Ndole opted to pay $200 immediately.
